İstanbul Ticaret Univesity Description In contemporary organizations, effective management requires more than technical competence and cognitive intelligence. Emotional intelligence (EI), defined as the ability to perceive, understand, regulate, and utilize emotions effectively, has emerged as a critical managerial capability. This article examines the role of emotional intelligence in effective management by synthesizing major theoretical models and empirical findings from the management and organizational behavior literature. Drawing on both ability-based and mixed models of emotional intelligence, the study explains how emotionally intelligent managers enhance leadership effectiveness, decision-making, communication, and employee outcomes. The paper further discusses managerial implications and directions for future research, emphasizing emotional intelligence as a strategic resource in modern organizations.
