Deshmukh Arts, Science and Commerce College, Rajur, Taluka Akole, District Ahilyanagar Description During the 18th and 19th centuries, the feminist movement gained momentum in Western countries. During this period, efforts were made to secure women’s right to vote, the right to education, and legal equality. This phase is known as the First Wave of Feminism. As a result of this movement, women in many countries gained the right to vote and awareness about women’s rights increased. In India as well, social reformers made significant efforts for women’s rights. Later, between 1960 and 1980, the Second Wave of Feminism emerged. In this phase, emphasis was placed on the social, economic, and political equality of women. Issues such as equal pay at the workplace, equal roles within the family, women’s health, and freedom were widely discussed. 1990, the Third Wave of Feminism began. In this phase, feminism expanded by considering women’s identities, culture, class, race, and different social circumstances. In the present era, the objective of feminism is to empower women, reduce gender discrimination in society, and establish equality between men and women. Today, women are progressing significantly in education, employment, politics, and social fields. Therefore, feminism is not merely a movement for women but is considered essential for the progress of the entire society. Files ६०.
