KU Leuven Description This report presents a cross-country analysis of citizenship education frameworks, focusing on how educational structures related to civic knowledge, civic identity, democratic participation, digital citizenship, and social inclusion are expressed at the policy level. The analysis is based on a corpus of official policy documents retrieved from the Eurydice database and national legislation archives, curriculum guidelines, among others, in Italy, with a comparative examination of citizenship education across the language communities of Belgium. In Italy, the analysis focuses on the legal and regulatory framework of Educazione civica (Civic Education), i.e., Law No. 92/2019 and subsequent amendments thereto, Ministerial Decrees, Curriculum Guidelines, Anti-Bullying Legislation and related national frameworks. In Belgium, the analysis looks into the aspects of civic education across the different linguistic communities in each country. Both internal (intranational; within Belgium) and external (international; Italy/Belgium) comparisons were conducted.
