Debates between atheistic and theistic positions are typically framed as disputes over the truth-value of propositions such as ”God exists.” This paper argues that such framing is structurally flawed. Drawing on results from analytic philosophy of language, formal epistemology, and the philosophy of science, we develop a model in which atheistic and theistic inquiry are represented as distinct epistemic spaces, each equipped with its own domain of propositions and domain-specific validation operator. We show that when a proposition native to one space is evaluated using the operator of the other, the result is not falsification but non-evaluability–a structural silence rather than a negative verdict. We argue, however, that this structural claim does not come without cost: we identify a non-triviality constraint that any viable epistemic space must satisfy, and show that it generates a genuine challenge for theistic frameworks rather than insulating them from criticism. We further model the phenomenological claim of ”encountering God” as a transformation between epistemic spaces and propose an Epistemic Incompatibility Principle placing formal limits on simultaneous cross-domain validation. The paper closes with extended engagement with objections–including the charge that the framework immunises religion from rational critique–and identifies the intersection of the two domains as the proper locus of substantive debate. The paper takes no position on whether God exists; its claim is meta-philosophical: a significant class of arguments on both sides rest on a structural error, and correcting it clarifies what the genuine disagreements, if any, actually are.
