The Core Emotion Framework (CEF) offers a structural constructivist resolution to the century long divide between discrete and dimensional models of emotion by proposing a unified architectural system grounded in ten universal emotional operators. As described in the manuscript, emotions function as “functional operators within a complex human operating system—effectively the emotional equivalent of CPU instructions”. Organized across the Head, Heart, and Gut centers, these operators govern information flow, value attribution, somatic intensity, and behavioral prioritization. The manuscript demonstrates how structural psychopathology emerges from predictable architectural failures—such as operator silencing, fusion, and overflow—and illustrates this through patterns like the GoodPerson Anxiety Pattern (GPAP). By integrating the CEF with established modalities including CBT, DBT, EFT, ACT, and somatic therapies, the paper shows how CEF provides the missing mechanistic foundation required for deep and lasting psychological change. The framework’s technical specifications (TS Series) and operational tools, including the 7 Step Detangling Protocol and ECM v4.0, further establish CEF as a rigorous, interoperable system suitable for clinical practice, education, and AI development. The manuscript concludes by highlighting the INTIMA benchmark and the potential for CEF aligned architectures to advance emotionally intelligent artificial systems.
