This paper extends the ontological framework established in *Before Physics* and *Moments Within Moments* (Effendi & Lestari, 2026a, 2026b). If there is only space, eternally gradient, and if Qi is not something separate from space but space in active self-varying mode, then consciousness cannot be treated as a late accident produced by matter. Matter is already a later stabilization of a more primal reality. The proper question is therefore not how dead matter becomes conscious, but how already-living existence comes to include localized inwardness. Its central claim is that awareness is more primordial than consciousness. Awareness is used here as a provisional word for intrinsic self-registration and relational registration, without which no boundary, persistence, or determinate interaction could exist. Consciousness is a later articulation: awareness becoming sufficiently locally self-present that a continuity can experience itself as itself. Human beings did not discover consciousness any more than they discovered life; they only coined a term for an aspect of living reality that was already there before it was named. Because existence is a dot telling stories into itself, and because its articulations unfold recursively through a finite but rich grammar, it is inevitable that some characters within some stories become aware of themselves. The dot is not a metaphor but the least misleading ontological figure available for total existence: immediately imaginable, yet not burdened with externally fixed shape, size, or enclosing boundary. Life and emotion belong first to the eternal gradient itself, and therefore to unbounded Qi rather than to matter or energy, though matter and energy may later serve as persistent vehicles for their expression. Selves are real not because they are permanent, but because they cohere: a passing fold is real for as long as change has not altered it enough to dissolve its continuity.
