Ieremias' Theodicy: A Modal-Narrative Framework
A perfectly good and maximally great God does not eliminate the metaphysical possibility of evil in a world of free & finite agents; rather, He necessarily actualizes the unique feasible world in which every suffered evil is ultimately and personally defeated; where defeat is non-fungible, narratively constituted, eschatologically disclosed, never gratuitous, and achieved without causal determination of the free agency through which redemption is realized. The paper provides a complete modal axiomatization (a formal skeleton) of this thesis, together with elucidations that connect the formal machinery to the underlying philosophical intuitions.
