Pagini despre cultura rom'nească sau modelul cultural rom'nesc: Constantin Noica – Mircea Eliade
For this study, we chose this title based on two books by Constantin Noica: Pages about the Romanian Soul (Bucharest, 1944) and The European Cultural Model (the philosopher’s last work published in German in Bucharest in 1988, with the title De dignitate Europae). It is, thematically, an arc over time between the first and last ideas about Romanian culture, as developed by Noica. The theme of this article is related to one of the most important friends of the philosopher from Păltiniș: Mircea Eliade. Starting from the ideas contained in our book Elective Affinities, in this study we will approach the Noica-Eliade (or Eliade-Noica) relationship over several decades, with ups and downs caused by conditions that were not always the responsibility of the two men of culture. On the other hand, talking about the culture of a people means not only presenting its achievements, but also highlighting the elective affinities that are established between different personalities. In this sense, the Noica-Eliade relationship helps us to look at the history of our culture at the highest level.
