Philosophy of Life and Universe Chapter 2 From a Cyclic Universe to a Spiral- Evolutionary Universe
This paper develops a philosophical extension of cyclic cosmology by proposing a Spiral- Evolutionary Universe model. The model begins with the hypothesis of an eternal, multidimensional, and elastic homogeneous cosmic ground within which recurring phases of cosmic expansion and compression occur. While such a framework naturally supports a cyclic interpretation of the universe, the paper explores the possibility that cosmic cycles themselves may evolve. Drawing upon the universal principle of evolution observed in matter, life, consciousness, knowledge, and technological intelligence, it is argued that successive cosmic cycles may not merely repeat previous states but may progressively manifest greater organizational complexity and richer forms of expression. The paper further examines the implications of mass-energy conservation and argues that the proposed model does not require an increase in total energy. Instead, complexity and organizational capacity may evolve while total mass-energy remains conserved. Nuclear fusion and fission are discussed as philosophical analogies illustrating how conserved energy may nevertheless exhibit increasingly sophisticated forms of organization and expression. The Spiral-Evolutionary Universe model therebyoffers a unified framework for understanding matter, life, consciousness, and civilization as interconnected stages within an ongoing cosmic developmental continuum.
