An Open Letter to the Professional Modern Philosopher
Presented in the form of an open letter, this philosophical epistle examines the tension between professional specialization and public accessibility in contemporary philosophy. It argues that wisdom should be evaluated primarily by its capacity to illuminate human experience rather than by institutional affiliation or disciplinary credentials. Distinguishing legitimate complexity from unnecessary obscurity, the letter defends a conception of philosophy as a habitable practice whose insights remain available to all who confront the fundamental realities of existence. The discussion culminates in a defense of public philosophy and a call to judge arguments by their substance rather than by the authority of their source.
