Imagine losing three seconds of your life. Not forgetting them. Not misremembering them. For you, they simply never existed. Now extend that idea to an entire lifetime. This is the central thought experiment behind my latest short paper, "The Paradox of Death in 3 Seconds." It asks a simple but unsettling question: If consciousness is the only place where subjective reality exists, what becomes of an entire life when the observer disappears forever?
