22 U.S.C. § 8562 — Definitions

In this subchapter: (1) Admission; admitted; alien The terms “ admission ”, “admitted” , and “alien” have the meanings given those terms in section 1101 of title 8 . (2) Appropriate congressional committees The term “ appropriate congressional committees ” means— (A) the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, the Committee on Foreign Relations, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate ; and (B) the Committee on Financial Services, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives . (3) Correspondent account; payable-through account The terms “ correspondent account ” and “ payable-through account ” have the meanings given those terms in section 5318A of title 31 . (4) Foreign financial institution The term “ foreign financial institution ” has the meaning of that term as determined by the Secretary of the Treasury pursuant to section 8513(i) of this title . (5) Foreign person The term “ foreign person ” means any individual or entity that is not a United States person . (6) United States person The term “ United States person ” means— (A) a United States citizen or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States; or (B) an entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States, including a foreign branch of such an entity.
