philosophy
This essay develops a taxonomy of departure from the Now within the framework of the Gaitan Topology. Building upon Ambulans Super Mare, The Alternate Lemniscate, and De-roling God, it distinguishes three ontologically different mechanisms of displacement from the crossing point: the acute shift, interrupted by fear; the chronic pull, sustained by false centers; and the frictionless pull, produced by the architectural evacuation of presence. The essay argues that these mechanisms differ not in degree but in ontology, since each preserves or destroys orientation differently and therefore permits a different form of diagnosis. This taxonomy reverses the ordinary hierarchy of failure by showing that fear is the lesser ontological failure because it preserves orientation, whereas frictionless evacuation dissolves orientation itself. The essay concludes by interpreting Peter's cry and Revelation's Knock as complementary forms of grace corresponding to distinct modes of departure.
