CONTINUITY WITHOUT MEMORY Multi-Platform Linked Public Building and the Architecture of Stateless AI Work
Book Description What if an AI system didn’t need to remember you in order to continue your work? Continuity Without Memory explores a different approach to one of the central problems of AI-assisted work: continuity across sessions, platforms, models, and time. Instead of relying on persistent memory, private databases, or a single AI provider, Mitchell D. McPhetridge develops an architecture in which the structure of the work itself carries the context forward. Across ten linked specifications, the book develops Multi-Platform Linked Public Building (MPLPB)—a method for creating interconnected, versioned, recoverable artifacts that allow a stateless AI system to reconstruct a project’s terminology, relationships, current state, boundaries, and open questions. But reconstruction is not treated as proof. The book carefully separates recoverability—whether the framework can be reconstructed—from stability—whether that reconstruction persists across systems and time—and validation—whether the underlying claims are actually correct. The architecture is accompanied by explicit failure modes, falsifiers, open tests, revision histories, and replication protocols. Several tests remain deliberately unresolved, making the unfinished evidence part of the record rather than something hidden from the reader. Continuity_Without_Memory.pdf Inside, readers will encounter approaches to: * building knowledge that survives individual AI sessions; * linking public artifacts into a navigable knowledge structure; * separating domains while allowing controlled interaction between them; * preserving provenance, version history, and visible correction; * designing retrieval infrastructure for stateless AI systems; * identifying failure modes such as semantic fossilization and retrieval without constraint; * testing whether structure actually improves reconstruction rather than merely storing information; and * running independent, cross-platform experiments capable of challenging the architecture itself. Continuity_Without_Memory.pdf Part technical specification, part experimental record, and part open research program, Continuity Without Memory asks a deceptively simple question: Can knowledge be engineered so that a system that remembers nothing can still recover what matters? The answer proposed here is not better memory. It is better structure.
