This paper argues that the boundaries separating individual conscious beings are not metaphysical facts but artefacts of embodiment. Three premises drive the argument. First, the soul is best understood as energy, and since energy cannot be destroyed, death is transformation rather than ending. Second, time is not a linear flow but a static structure — a closed ring — in which every moment exists permanently at its coordinate; the past is not gone, only elsewhere. Third, between incarnations, the soul exists as undifferentiated potential, indistinguishable from any other soul in the same state. From these three premises one conclusion follows: there is nothing, between collapses, that makes one soul distinct from another. The energy that constitutes you has been, and will be, every conscious being across every coordinate of time — not sequentially, but consistently and simultaneously. Each life is complete and total from within it, the forgetting of other lives being the mechanism that makes full immersion in any single life possible. The paper draws out three consequences: the dissolution of the afterlife as ordinarily conceived, the illusory nature of the boundary between self and other, and the resolution of the problem of loneliness. It concludes that compassion is not a moral achievement but a moment of accurate perception — a recognition, through the apparent boundary of separate selfhood, of what was always the same thing.
