*Forms of Government: Monarchy, Democracy, and the Architecture of Power* examines the inner logic of political authority. It traces sovereignty as it moves from the body of the monarch into law, office, election, and constitutional form, showing how power survives historical change by altering its instruments and language. The book centers on obedience: why societies accept rule, how legitimacy gives authority its durability, and why the demand for order can gradually narrow the freedom it claims to protect. Across monarchy, republic, and democracy, the same question returns with renewed force: where does supreme authority truly reside, and what price does society pay for giving it a home?
