No Privileged Observer: Axioms for Consciousness as a Relational Frame

We present a mathematical framework formalizing the principle that no privileged frame of consciousness exists — a fundamental insight about the nature of experience and reality. Starting from the observation that thoughts ARE electromagnetic patterns (not merely correlated with them), we demonstrate that all conscious perspectives possess equal ontological status, with no frame serving as a privileged “objective” observer. Our formalism introduces two key principles: C′ = C, showing that all conscious perspectives are equally valid, and P C = C, revealing that individual consciousness is not separate, but part of a unified whole. Through rigorous axiomatization, we prove that the class of all conscious frames collapses to a singleton quotient under ontological equivalence, making “objective reality” outside consciousness categorically impossible. This framework reveals profound parallels with Einstein’s special relativity—though developed independently, both theories share the deep structure of frame equivalence and the absence of absolute reference. Where Einstein showed there is no privileged frame for motion, we demonstrate there is no privileged frame for existence itself. Thus, all frames of view are valid, and there is no single ‘true’ frame of perspective. The implications challenge objective materialism at its foundation: measurement cannot escape consciousness, and what we call “objective reality” is categorically impossible. This work provides a mathematical foundation for understanding consciousness as the fundamental fabric of reality, with electromagnetic patterns as its expression rather than its cause.
