Reinforced Correlation and Dimensional Filtering: Against the Intrinsicality of Change
This paper proceeds in four stages. First, I reframe Aristotle's infinite regress argument temporally as a synchronic problem, the regress of potentialities at an instant t, and demonstrate that this independently necessitates a fully actualized ground. Second, I address the selectivity problem, why some potentials are actualized and others are not, proposing that cross-linkage between actualization chains explains selective actualization without requiring direct intervention from the ground. Third, I argue that change and causation are not intrinsic features of reality but phantom properties produced by dimensional filtering, drawing on higher-dimensional geometry to show that what appears as change at lower dimensional resolution dissolves into static structure at higher resolution. Finally, I argue that causation is reinforced correlation, a survival-selected cognitive framework that approximates rather than represents reality, and that since change is grounded in causation, neither can be considered intrinsic to reality. This does not entail idealism; external reality exists, but its fundamental nature may be static, with dynamism being an artifact of our dimensional limitations.
