This paper develops Directed Traversal Under Admissible Freedom as a structural mechanism within the PATON System Cognitive Branch. It examines how exploratory cognition may remain directionally organised when unnecessary constraint is reduced. The framework defines admissible freedom as flexible movement that preserves continuity, reversibility, relation, consequence awareness, and the capacity for correction. Directional weighting describes the unequal attraction of available pathways. Intuition is interpreted as an early directional hypothesis that may arise before full symbolic articulation, rather than as automatic truth or certainty. The paper distinguishes freedom from randomness, direction from external control, weighting from command, exploration from fragmentation, and intuition from verified conclusion. It also examines provisional traversal, branch retention, analogy as structural compression, false attraction, salience distortion, and symbolic stabilisation. Its central proposition is: Cognitive freedom is not the absence of direction. It is the preserved capacity to navigate direction without being compelled, controlled, or prematurely closed.
