The God's Eye View from Nowhere: A Review of Frank, Gleiser, & Thompson's _The Blind Spot_
A pervasive illness runs through science and western culture, a purposeful ignoring of the essential role of human experience. This Blind Spot, the treatment of human subjectivity as a transparent given rather than an essential component of our scientific worldview the authors argue, is a major contributing factor to the suite of crises bearing down upon our civilization. This review takes stock of this masterful diagnosis of an illness we all carry to one degree or another.
