The Messiah as Post-Scriptural Construction: A Genealogical Analysis of Abrahamic Conflicts
This paper argues that conflicts among Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Chris- tianity, and Islam—stem not from divergent ethical teachings, but from competi- tive claims over a single conceptual figure: the Messiah. Through textual analysis, this study demonstrates that the eschatological Messiah figure does not appear in the original scriptural texts of these traditions (Tanakh, Gospels, Qur’an), but emerged through later interpretive developments (Talmudic literature, Pauline the- ology, Hadith collections). The paper employs a genealogical methodology to trace how this post-scriptural construct became institutionalized, creating a framework for exclusivist truth claims that generates enduring conflict. By examining the textual evidence and historical development, this research reveals that Abrahamic conflicts are disputes over the interpretation of a shared constructed figure rather than fundamental theological differences.
