Female Agency Controlled: The transcendental Analysis of “My Last Duchess”
This essay will discuss and analyse how female agency is controlled transcendentally on “My Last Duchess” by Browning. Patriarchy in the Victorian Era was the fundamental cause of the loss of female agency – transcending even after death. Browning uses symbolism and motifs of reality, death, art, and dramatic monologue to fundamentally depict how the system of patriarchy controlled women in life and death in the Victorian Era.
