The Sea of Semantics: Meaning as Reality

The Sea of Semantics argues that meaning is not an addition to reality but its fundamental medium. Rather than treating meaning as a derivative of matter, energy, or information, the work proposes that reality becomes intelligible only within a prior field of meaning. Drawing on sources from Heraclitus to Bach, from Kurt Gödel to the demonstration of Léon Foucault, the book develops a unified ontology in which awareness functions as the fixed plane of experience, coherence as the condition of meaning's persistence, and interruption as the structural safeguard of coherence in accelerating systems. Within this framework, artificial intelligence is interpreted as syntax without semantics—systems capable of generating structure without presence. Against this, the work introduces interruption, safety valves, the Campfire Protocol, and the right to refuse continuation as necessary conditions for maintaining human authority and preventing recursive collapse in increasingly autonomous systems. The book introduces several original concepts: epsilon (ε) as the smallest difference that creates the world; semantic inertia as the preservation of identity through coherent variation; the H-K-I architecture (Hesitation → Commitment → Interruption) as the structure of every discrete event; the Meaning Quotient (MQ) as the capacity to preserve meaning under acceleration; and the Campfire Protocol as a model for containing autonomous systems. Bridging ontology, physics, and practice, The Sea of Semantics is written in an aphoristic, deliberately paced voice. It does not present a closed doctrine, but an orientation: a way of recognizing that coherence arises through openness, that meaning precedes form, and that the sea was never divided—only our way of seeing was.
