From Smartphone OS to Nuclear OS to Universal OS
Drawing on over forty years of experience in nuclear engineering, smartphone operating systems, AI platforms, and enterprise management, this paper proposes understanding the “operating system” as a core metaphor and analytical tool for civilizational systems. It examines the endogenous negative feedback mechanisms in nuclear systems and natural cybernetics, and the high-entropy risks caused by the absence of such feedback in smartphone and contemporary AI systems. From the perspective of philosophy of science and systems theory, this paper argues that “The movement of the Dao is reversal” (反者,道之动) is not only a principle of Eastern philosophical wisdom but also a fundamental guideline for complex systems, technology sustainability, and civilizational resilience. The study demonstrates that any system lacking endogenous negative feedback is inherently unsustainable, and its uncontrolled dynamics pose profound threats to civilization. Conversely, embedding negative feedback principles in a “Universal Operating System” provides an uncompromising design baseline for future AI, technological systems, and governance of civilization. The paper offers a theoretical framework for interdisciplinary study that combines philosophical depth with engineering applicability.
