Heidegger: The Cogito's Paper Tiger offers a sustained critique of Martin Heidegger's philosophy, arguing that his project remains fundamentally Cartesian despite its claims to have overcome the subject-object split. Through a detailed analysis of Heidegger's central concepts—Dasein, projection, thrownness, resoluteness, being-toward-death, and temporality—the book demonstrates that these terms are mental constructs disguised as existential truths, rooted in the same cognitive architecture that Descartes inaugurated. The book then turns to the voices Heidegger excluded: the peasant, the blacksmith, the fisherman, the meditator, and the indigenous elder. Their embodied, relational, and pre-cognitive knowledge of Being, the book argues, reveals the poverty of Heidegger's intellectualized ontology. Drawing on cognitive science, indigenous wisdom, and contemplative traditions, the book articulates an alternative to the Cartesian tradition: "I am where I am." This anti-Cogito replaces thinking with presence, projection with embodiment, and resoluteness with surrender. The book concludes that Heidegger's philosophy is a paper tiger—fearsome in appearance but hollow at its core—and that the living world has always known Being without philosophy's footnotes.
