philosophy
Information and energy are treated as separate concepts across different scientific disciplines. This paper presents three everyday examples — hard drives, genes, and rivers with their riverbeds — to demonstrate that information and energy are ontologically inseparable. It further argues that anything that exists simultaneously possesses informational structure (distinguishability) and energetic cost (the cost of maintaining that distinguishability). Existence itself is an instance of information-energy unity. This principle holds from the birth of the universe to the infinite future, providing a more fundamental framework of reality than any specific scientific question. Finally, this paper cross-validates with the "Six Observations on Cosmic Evolution," showing that the two frameworks describe the same reality from different levels.
