Act in a Formal Metaphysics of Actualization
The metaphysical concepts of act and potency are defined and investigated within a formal framework. We introduce structural conditions under which a mode of being qualifies as a mode of being-in-act. Our main result shows that, whenever a distinguished mode of being Act exists, it is unique and contained in every mode of being-in-act. Act is the most determinate mode of being-in-act.
