Binding as Primitive: The Mechanics of Traction and Consequence
First philosophy typically grounds itself in Being, Difference, Relation or the Self. This misjudges the scale of the primitive. These concepts describe structures that are already active, they assume the gravity that allows the architecture to hold. The concept of the Binding argues these starting points arrive too late. Prior to ontological presence or subjective consciousness there is a narrower threshold. The point at which a distinction acquires the structural cost of non-interchangeability. I term this threshold Binding. By formalizing the mechanics of traction and foreclosure this paper maps the continuum from basic ontological difference to the phenomenological pressures of regret, ethics and time. Binding is not a feature of thought, it is the physical and epistemic limit condition for holding any difference at all.
