The Epistemic Tax: What Autodidactic Falsificationism Actually Costs, Why This Corpus's Objections Sections and Its Cross-Paper Corrections Tell Two Different Stories, and What a Direct Test on Appendix I, "On the Author," Adds

This corpus's methodological vocabulary — falsification conditions, research-programme evaluation, the distinction between progressive and degenerating theory-adjustment — is drawn substantially from Popper and Lakatos, a specific tradition within philosophy of science rather than general philosophical literacy. This paper does not treat that fact as self-evidently impressive and states directly why it resists doing so: the claim that this tradition is rare in the author's own educational context, and the claim that the author lacks a formal academic degree, are both stated here as unverified rather than confirmed, and a paper that built its central argument on either claim without this qualification would violate this corpus's own empirical-anchoring commitment before its argument even began. What this paper can state with more confidence is narrower and more interesting: that the question worth asking is not whether this corpus's Popperian self-scrutiny is impressive, but whether it is genuine, and that the honest answer is neither uniformly humble nor uniformly performed. Section IV reports a finding already on this corpus's own record: The Artifact Problem's audit of every Objections section this corpus has produced found a 100 percent thesis-survival rate, indistinguishable, by this corpus's own Act-Level Criterion, from simple absorption. Section V does not stop at reporting that statistic. It applies the same scrutiny directly and for the first time to a single, specific, unusually careful specimen — Appendix I, "On the Author," from this corpus's founding book, which classifies the book's own author as satisfying Taleb's black swan criteria and names the resulting condition the Beautiful Trap — and finds the same signature at close range that The Artifact Problem found in aggregate: a black swan classification applied prospectively to a claim Taleb's own framework defines retrospectively; a narrative-fallacy structure offered as confirming evidence rather than flagged as the bias Taleb warns against; an argument about the author's own structural position that, checked against this corpus's own falsifiability standard, does not currently name an observation about that position which would count against it; and an attributional pattern — analytical success credited internally, absence of traction explained entirely externally — matching the asymmetry Miller and Ross's (1975) literature on self-serving attribution documents independently of Kunda. The same section also reports where the passage does not fit this pattern, and engages the passage's critique of historical materialism on its own philosophical terms, finding real substance alongside a specific, statable gap: the Generative Paradox's central claim substantially precedes it, in Michels's 1911 iron law of oligarchy, and its three supporting cases are all vanguardist, not representative of every organizational form Marx's own later writing on the Paris Commune considered. This paper's conclusion is not that this corpus's self-scrutiny is fake. It is that Channel 1 — scrutiny conducted inside a single paper by its own author — has now failed the same test twice, once in aggregate and once at close range on its most sophisticated available specimen, while Channel 2 — correction that occurs across papers, after publication, against external or stricter standards — continues to show a different and better record, and that this difference, not a single verdict, is what the evidence currently supports.
