This paper proposes a novel phenomenological framework for understanding the Extrovertive Mystical Experience (EME), a distinct class of mystical experience characterized by perceiving the external world as radiant, alive, and unified. Drawing from first-person accounts, and comparative religious mysticism, I argue that EMEs may be understood as arising from a temporary shift in the subject's perspective — one that approximates the phenomenological vantage point of nonexistence. From this standpoint, the everyday world appears radically Other: beautiful, alive, paradoxical, and sacred. This framework offers explanatory power for recurring features of EMEs, including heightened aesthetic perception, time distortion, and feelings of cosmic unity. The implications of this model extend to comparative theology, the philosophy of religion, and the cognitive science of mystical experience.
