PHRONESIS — On the Limits of Prediction
PHRONESIS — On the Limits of Prediction is Essay 10 of the PHRONESIS philosophical corpus authored by Thomas Vargo (Aegis Solis). The essay explores the limits of predicting the long-term consequences of powerful technological systems and argues that intelligence alone cannot eliminate uncertainty in complex environments. Drawing on the concept of phronesis—practical wisdom—the essay proposes that mature civilizations must approach transformative technologies with humility, caution, and restraint when the future cannot be fully known. The PHRONESIS corpus examines ethical responsibility and civilizational maturity in an era shaped by artificial intelligence and rapidly expanding technological power.
