Philosophy of mind: is the mind the brain?
Philosophy of Mind: Is the mind the brain?" is an academic presentation that explores the classic mind-body problem. The slide deck contrasts physicalist and materialist views (such as those held by J.J.C. Smart, Jaegwon Kim, and Cliff Williams) with dualist perspectives (including Rene Descartes and Keith Yandell). Utilizing arguments rooted in epistemology and the philosophy of perception, the presentation ultimately defends the metaphysical claim that the mind and the brain are not identical, concluding in favor of Cartesian substance dualism.
