This paper presents the Substrate Stack (B₀–B₅) and its integration with the FSC triad (Founder–Supporter–Critic) as the biological and functional foundation of Reflective Humanism (RH). It expands upon RH 1.0: The Architecture of Reflection and FRA 1.0: The Fractal Reflective Architecture, which introduced the six-layer Reflective Stack (F₀–F₅) and the fractal triadic roles governing meaning-making across timescales. The present work provides the complementary biological half of the RH framework: a functional hierarchy of substrate processes—from homeostasis and arousal to sensory gating, motor readiness, affective valence, and symbolic stability. By describing how substrate constraints couple to reflective interpretation through structured multi-layer “coupling bands,” this paper establishes the dual-layer architecture required for Reflective Humanism 1.1, the unified formulation that synthesizes biological constraints, reflective meaning-making, and fractal triadic dynamics. This integration reveals how consciousness arises not from reflection alone nor from biology alone but from their reciprocal synchronization across multiple timescales. The resulting model accounts for phenomenology, emotion, identity, psychopathology, development, and social coordination within a single coherent framework.
