Three Types of Rationality in the Ontology of the Subject-in-Itself-Object: Objective, Subjective, and Aesthetic
Abstract This paper constructs a novel, non-reductive universal ontology designated as the Subject-in-Itself-Object (SiOSiO) triad, fundamentally departing from classical substance dualism, dispositional monism, and the radical epistemic skepticism inherent in Hans Vaihinger’s strict fictionalism. Drawing upon Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology of the embodied flesh (la chair) and Immanuel Kant’s noumenal-phenomenal divide, we argue that reality is neither a passive domain of brute objective facts nor an arbitrary construction of human cognition. Instead, it operates through a dynamic process of Dispositional Selection, wherein entities manifest distinct ontic profiles based on structural and relational vectors. We bifurcate and stabilize this overarching ontology by introducing three discrete, operationalized modes of systemic organization: Objective Rationality (utility-driven, algorithmic data compression), Subjective Rationality (experiential delay, phylogenetic affect, and cognitive homology), and Aesthetic Rationality (non-utilitarian, self-reflexive recursive nesting). To prevent this framework from collapsing into speculative metaphysics, we anchor our philosophical claims in contemporary scientific frameworks: specifically low-energy Effective Field Theory (EFT) in quantum gravity, the Diósi-Penrose models of gravitational entropic decoherence, Karl Friston's Free Energy Principle (FEP), and macro-evolutionary speciation dynamics. Finally, we propose a concrete, falsifiable space-based interferometric experiment utilizing future LISA/AEDGE architectures to test whether space-time metric fluctuations enforce a non-epistemic, physical limit on macroscopic quantum computation (∣ΔP∣>10−6∣ΔP∣>10−6), thereby empiricalizing the transition from an Auxiliary Virtual Concept (AVC) to a genuine Subject-in-Itself-Object.
