The Modal Foundations of Reality: From Zero Instability to Global Possibility Collapse

This paper develops a unified metaphysical framework that traces the foundations of reality from the instability of zero to the global collapse of possibility space. Building on the Jestin Paradox—the insight that any attempt to represent absolute nothingness inevitably transforms it into something—the paper argues that zero is not a state of pure absence but a dynamic equilibrium that cannot remain still. This instability gives rise to structured possibility, which in turn grounds the five‑valued logic of information: 0, 1, both, neither, and undefined. Information is treated not as a physical quantity but as a modal differentiation within a possibility space. The central thesis is that true information destruction requires two conditions: (1) modal convergence, in which all five information values collapse into a single undifferentiated modal state, and (2) actualisation of that collapsed state as the sole actuality. When both conditions are met, the universe reaches Jestin’s Point of No Return—a metaphysical singularity where all distinctions vanish, possibility collapses, and actuality freezes into a single, contextless remnant. This framework integrates the Zero Instability Hypothesis, the ontology of information, and the mechanism of global possibility collapse into a coherent modal cosmology.
