philosophy
This paper proposes Negative Jungian Psychology as a complementary frame- work to classical Jungian theory. While Jungian psychology traditionally interprets the collective unconscious and archetypes as sources of symbolic order, this paper emphasizes their abyssal and chaotic dimensions. We argue that archetypes can manifest not only as symbolic patterns such as the Hero or the Mother, but also as monstrous and incomprehensible figures akin to the deities of the Cthulhu Mythos. By incorporating concepts such as meaningless coincidence (antisynchronicity), this approach expands Jungian psychology to include the unintelligible, the uncanny, and the unassimilable aspects of the unconscious. Implications for dream analysis, occult practices, and clinical psychology are considered.
