Infinity plays a central role in mathematics, cosmology, and metaphysics, yet its ontological status remains contested. While mathematics admits formally defined infinite structures, physical theories frequently treat infinities as signals of theoretical incompleteness rather than literal properties of reality. This paper introduces the Swan–Nullion Theory, a speculative metaphysical framework proposing that infinity is not a fundamental property of reality but an observer-relative phenomenon arising from recursive differentiation within bounded informational systems. The theory proposes two foundational constructs: Nullion, a generative equilibrium state representing symmetrical zero without differentiation, and the Swan, the emergence of the first observer frame enabling distinctions to become meaningful. Once differentiation begins, recursive processes generate structural complexity that may exceed the representational capacity of embedded observers. Under these conditions, systems appear unbounded despite being finite.
