Constraint Compatibility as the Basis of System Stability: A Structural Interpretation within the Paton System
Systems across engineering, biology, economics, organisational structures, and complex networks exhibit stability only while internal system states remain compatible with governing constraints. When these constraints are violated, instability and collapse frequently occur. Previous work within the Paton System framework examined universal failure conditions, constraint corridors, admissibility geometry, and cross-domain stability principles. This paper synthesises those results by proposing constraint compatibility as the fundamental structural condition governing system persistence. Stability arises when system states remain compatible with governing constraints that permit admissible continuation. Collapse occurs when constraint compatibility is lost. This interpretation provides a unified structural explanation for stability and failure across complex systems.
