This essay develops a metaphysical and topological account of modern secularization centered not on the denial of God’s existence but on the displacement of the ontological function traditionally occupied by a non-derivative ground. Building on the author’s “Gaitan Topology,” the argument defines the Now as the zero-thickness crossing point at which actuality occurs and argues that such a point, lacking intrinsic self-sustaining depth, requires a sustaining condition outside the succession of dependent moments. The theological identification of this sustaining ground with the “I AM” of Exodus is presented not as a revealed premise but as the name that structurally corresponds to the philosophical terminus independently reached by the argument. The essay distinguishes three historical modes of attack against this ground: physical elimination, ideological displacement, and the evacuation of presence itself. The first two fail because persecution cannot destroy the crossing point and contingent substitutes eventually collapse under their own dependency. The third succeeds because it targets not the ground but the self’s capacity to inhabit the crossing point at all. Drawing on Martin Heidegger’s analysis of Das Man, the figure of Legion in the Gospel of Mark, Faust, and contemporary algorithmic culture, the essay argues that digital extraction systems bypass the locus of existential encounter by continuously relocating attention into manufactured elsewhere. The concluding claim is that modern systems do not refute transcendence; they render the crossing point functionally uninhabitable by eroding the conditions under which the question of grounding could arise.
