Organized Vulnerability: Depth, Binding, and the Shape of Agency
This essay develops a constraint-first account of mind and action. Rather than beginning with discrepancy, error, and correction, it begins with preservation: the active maintenance of variables that must hold for a living system to continue coherently. What binds is not deviation as such, but deviation relative to defended depth—the breadth of processes recruited when a defended boundary is approached. The essay traces how this framework clarifies lived phenomenology, interpretation, language, affect, conflict, reorganization, social norms, identity, and agency. Interpretation and language are treated not as commentary layered atop perception, but as operations on defended geometry that can intensify, redistribute, or dissolve binding. The result is a conception of organized vulnerability: not the elimination of disturbance, but the disciplined allocation of defense within a life shaped by depth, revisability, and constraint—preserving what must hold while allowing the rest to vary.
