A Degree-Based Solution to the Paradox of Everyday Aesthetics
Everyday aesthetics is a thriving subfield in aesthetics which shifts the focus in aesthetic theorizing from artworks to aesthetic experiences we have in our ordinary life. This project is threatened by the paradox, or sometimes also dilemma, of everyday aesthetics which arises from the tension between the ordinary nature of everyday experiences and the apparent extra-ordinariness of aesthetic experiences. In this paper, we propose a response to the paradox which builds on a framework which conceives of aesthetic experiences as multidimensional and gradable.
