Matter as Multi‑System Coherence
Matter is typically described through particles, forces, and interactions, but these accounts do not capture the coherence geometry that stabilizes physical organization across scales. This paper introduces matter as a multi‑system coherence field—the first domain where the Second Triad (alignment, drift, persistence) becomes visible through collective physical behavior. We describe alignment as the formation of stable physical patterns, drift as the evolution and reconfiguration of material structures under changing conditions, and persistence as the maintenance of coherence across perturbation and time. Without exposing internal mechanisms, we present phenomenological signatures of Objects 4–6 in physical systems, including pattern formation, material evolution, stability regimes, threshold‑based reorganization (Snap), and cross‑scale transmission of coherence. Understanding matter at this level clarifies how physical coherence provides the foundation for biological, cognitive, cultural, and symbolic coherence fields.
