Generative Relational Freedom: Situated Hermeneutics and Relational Symmetry Breaking

This discussion paper develops a generative relational approach to freedom for subjects whose agency is always situated within non-zero relations of interaction. An analytical free dynamics may be represented by $S_0$, while the situated dynamics of an embodied and historically formed subject take the form $S = S_0 + S_{\text{int}}$, with $S_{\text{int}} \neq 0$. The paper therefore treats freedom as a phenomenon requiring interpretation within relationally structured dynamics rather than through an assumed zero-interaction baseline. The analysis introduces a spatiotemporally situated relational language system $L_{st}$, through which actions, constraints, possibilities, and claims of freedom become intelligible within particular historical and relational configurations. Material relations, institutions, symbolic orders, religious and normative structures, and accumulated practices participate in the formation and transformation of $L_{st}$. Drawing on historical materialism and dialectical accounts of historical change, the paper examines freedom meanings as historically generated and revisable relational forms rather than as temporally invariant semantic objects. Formal resources from dynamical systems, geometry, group theory, and symmetry analysis are then used to articulate the locality and transformation of these interpretive structures. A bounded spin-foam-inspired construction motivates the passage from local relational substructures to effective geometry and situated hermeneutic organization. Local language systems constrain recognizable and admissible trajectories within such relational patches. Group actions, stabilizers, and invariants provide a framework for examining how a situated relational configuration can select and stabilize particular interpretations of freedom through relational symmetry breaking. The paper further develops the problem of local-to-global interpretation. Freedom meanings associated with different relational patches may overlap, translate partially, transform through historical contact, or fail to admit a unique global gluing. Lexical correspondence across languages therefore does not establish hermeneutic identity. Cross-relational inquiry is redirected toward partial translatability, local compatibility, transformation, and possible invariants rather than a presumed universal scalar of freedom. This framework also clarifies the epistemic limits of measuring and ranking freedom. Indicators are treated as situated projections that select observable dimensions from a richer relational and hermeneutic configuration. The paper ultimately proposes Generative Relational Freedom as a revisable framework for studying how freedom becomes meaningful, operative, contested, and transformed within historically situated relational fields.
