Artificial intelligence is already good at producing the appearance of reasoning. It can generate chains, distinctions, classifications, explanations, and confident conclusions. But fluent buildup is not reasoning, and a sentence that looks like a premise has not thereby earned the right to be used as one. This paper introduces Resolution Gates: a logical-standing architecture for reasoning AI. Its central claim is that before any generated or retrieved structure can function as fact, premise, category, inference, evidence, identity-claim, or temporal judgment, it must first pass the relevant gate of standing. The aim is not to replace statistical learning, formal logic, or empirical verification, but to add an admission discipline before reasoning proceeds. Resolution Gates target an earlier layer than ordinary self-checking: not merely “is this answer acceptable?”, but “was this structure ever entitled to enter reasoning at all?” If successful, this framework could reduce confident false answers, evidential overreach, category mistakes, hindsight projection, and wasted downstream computation. A reasoning AI is not merely a system that continues language. It is a system that knows when a structure has earned the right to stand.
