Modern political conflict is often reduced to a binary between conservatism and liberalism, yet both have drifted from their original orientations. Contemporary conservatism has shifted from flexible preservation of tradition and gradual reform to rigid resistance to change. Contemporary liberalism has moved away from promoting freedom and diversity toward rigid adherence to specific value commitments. This paper analyzes these shifts through the lens of relational existence theory and a dynamic structural model, arguing for the necessity of restraining far-right extremism and restoring mutual self-corrective mechanisms in both camps. By conceptualizing conservatism and liberalism as relational positions rather than fixed systems, the study highlights the structural need for self-critique to prevent extremism and maintain political stability.
