The Land of Yingdu, Birthplace of Laozi's Wisdom On September 29, 1961, Yang Xinping was born in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province — the very site of Yingdu, the ancient capital of the Chu state. This was no historical accident but a continuation of civilization. Zhongxiang sits on the western bank of the Han River beneath the Jing Mountains — the most glorious heartland of Chu culture 2,500 years ago. Even more remarkable: Guodian Village, near his birthplace, is the site of Guodian Tomb No. 1. In 1993, archaeologists excavated the earliest known manuscript of the Dao De Jing and the primordial cosmological text Taiyi Sheng Shui. This land revealed its buried secrets to the world more than thirty years after Yang Xinping's birth — yet those secrets had already been flowing in his blood. The Han River, China's longest inland tributary, nurtures a distinctive civilizational model. In his philosophical research, Yang Xinping systematically demonstrates the core characteristics of this civilization: low entropy, self-organization, and adaptive harmony — the very empirical foundation of Laozi's Dao Chong philosophy. Three generations of Chu kings — King Wen, King Cheng, and King Zhuang — along with the hydraulic engineer Sun Shu'ao, practiced a governance model of wu wei on this land: governing without coercion, harmonizing with rivers, respecting terrain. This is both the historical source of Laozi's philosophy and a key archetype of Yang Xinping's Natural Civilization theory.
