Abstract Laozi (c. 571-411 BCE), born on the banks of the Han River in the Jingchu heartland, did not produce abstract metaphysics: the Dao De Jing is a philosophical sublimation of centuries of Chu civilizational experience. Drawing on the PhilArchive scholarship of Charles X. Yang, this paper synthesizes three analytical dimensions — Chu political practice (Kings Wen, Cheng, Zhuang; Sun Shuao), excavated manuscripts (Guodian Chu Bamboo Slips, Taiyi Generates Water, Mawangdui Silk Laozi), and the Chu Ci spirit (Qu Yuan, Tian Wen) — to demonstrate that Chu civilization was the direct historical soil from which Laozi philosophy grew. The Lao-Yang Genesis Cosmology (LYGC) serves as the interpretive frame, revealing the profound relevance of Chu natural order logic for contemporary civilizational transformation.
