The Temporal Architecture of the Ente - Gradient, Genetic, and Interior Time

philosophy
This paper develops a unified temporal ontology grounded in the biological ente, the locus where temporal identity is generated and maintained. I argue that time is not a single dimension but a three‑layer architecture composed of Gradient Time, Genetic Time, and Interior Time, each corresponding to a distinct mode of organization in matter, life, and selfhood. Gradient Time captures directional physical processes; Genetic Time arises from species‑specific biological oscillations that stabilize living systems; and Interior Time constitutes the finite interval of selfhood in which memory, anticipation, and meaning become possible. The ente synthesizes these layers into a coherent temporal structure, enabling the emergence of identity through temporal inscription rather than metaphysical substance. By analyzing temporal misalignment, irreversibility, and the conditions under which meaning is preserved, the paper establishes a temporal foundation for symbolic cosmology and offers a new metaphysical framework for understanding biological communication, agency, and the stability of meaning across time.
