This work develops a phenomenological account of the reciprocal relation between meaning and existential vitality. Beginning from the question of whether human beings feel alive because they experience meaning, or experience meaning because they feel alive, the work argues against one-way accounts that make either bare existence the source of meaning or meaning the unilateral source of vitality. Instead, it proposes that meaning and vitality are reciprocally ordered in lived experience: meaning gives depth, form, and intelligible weight to life, while vitality gives existential force to meaning. Their union is described as 'lived significance,' the condition in which life is not merely continued but inhabited. The book distinguishes lived significance from pleasure, stimulation, authenticity, and value-creation. It also examines the withdrawal of meaning through forms such as numbness, hollowness, despair, false vitality, and lifeless meaning. While standing in close relation to "Meaning as the Mark of Mind," the argument remains independent: its concern is not primarily the mind-body problem, but the structure by which human life becomes, again, inwardly vivid, meaningful, and inhabitable. The conclusion situates lived significance near the heart of the question of the good life, while resisting any romanticization of suffering, intensity, or fulfillment.
