Existence: The Splendour of A-Normativity
This paper argues that existence is not the product of a preordained plan, but the outcome of layered random events operating within simple yet powerful natural laws. Beginning with the primordial cosmic asymmetry (baryon asymmetry) that allowed matter to prevail over antimatter, the paper traces the role of chance through evolutionary biology, developmental biology, and neural formation. It distinguishes between different types of randomness, quantum indeterminacy, contingency, and deterministic chaos, while showing how order emerges from symmetry-breaking rather than from design. The paper concludes that recognizing our random origins does not lead to nihilism, but to a profound appreciation of existence, epistemic humility, and a responsibility to create meaning from within rather than expecting it from above.
